Falkner Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships
BOSTON, Mass. - Junior E.J. Falkner finished fifth and sixth in the 400-meter and 200-meter dashes, respectively, capturing All-America honors in both events at the conclusion of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston, Mass., today. Falkner has been honored as an indoor All-American four times during his career, after placing third in the 200-meter and second in the 60-meter dash at last season's NCAA Championships.
Falkner finished the 400-meter dash in 48.19, a new school record, and completed the 200-meter dash in 21.65 seconds, after breaking the school mark yesterday with 21.44 in the preliminaries. Falkner ends the 2006 season with an MIAA title in the 400-meter dash and a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash at the conference meet.
Junior Bayo Adio tied for 10th in the high jump today with 6' 7". Adio ends the season as the MIAA high jump champion, setting a career high 6' 9 3/4" at the MIAA meet.
Both men's and women's track and field teams will begin the outdoor season this weekend. The men will travel to Pittsburg, Kan., to participate in the Pittsburg State Open on March 16. The women's team will compete in the Alabama Relays on March 18-19, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
