Samuel Honored as MIAA Athlete of the Week
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Northwest Missouri State senior sprinter Alisha Samuel (San Juan, Trinidad) was honored as the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Indoor Track Athlete of Week for Feb. 13-19. Samuel is the first Bearcat to be honored with the award this season.
At the Prairie Wolf Invitational on Friday in Lincoln, Neb., Samuel placed second in the 60-meter dash with 7.71 seconds. Her finish marked the fourth time this season Samuel has finished in the top-three for the event.
On the MIAA performance lists, Samuel has the fastest time in the 60-meter dash with a 7.65 second run at the CMSU Mule Relays on Feb. 10. Samuel currently has the 11th fastest time on the NCAA performance lists for the 60-meters.
Samuel will join her teammates at the MIAA Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25 at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo.
