Henry Sets Northwest Record at CMSU Mule Relays
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State sophomore hurdler Hannah Henry broke the school's 60-meter hurdle mark at the CMSU Mule Relays running a 9.37 second time for a seventh-place finish in the preliminary round. Henry's mark was enough to defeat sophomore Audrey Bailey's time of 9.39 seconds set at the MIAA Championship meet last season. Henry finished tenth in the final round of the 60-meter hurdles.
Senior Alisha Samuel placed third in the 60-meter dash with a 7.65 second time, missing her personal record by .01 seconds in the event. Samuel's finish marked the third time this season she has finished in the top-three for the 60-meter dash. Junior Megan Robinson set a personal record in the 200-meter dash with a 26.41 mark, while Henry also placed 17th in the 400-meter dash.
Freshman Anna O'Brien led Bearcat distance runners in a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, her first top-three performance of the season in the 3,000-meter. Senior Jessica Montesano also set a personal record in the 5,000-meter run, placing tenth in 19:53.98, while sophomore Cassie Sherlock ran 1:33.39 in the 600-yard run, placing 11th.
The Northwest field events were led by a pair of fifth-place finishes by sophomore Halley Carlson in the high jump and senior Abby Disselhoff in the weight throw. Carlson's 5' 4 ¼" mark was a new personal record, while Disselhoff's 47' 11 ¾" throw was her best output of the season in the event. Sophomore Melanie Royeton tied for eighth in the pole vault with a 10' 0" vault, as freshman Emily Churchman tied for ninth in the triple jump with 34' 3".
The Northwest men are in action today at the CMSU Mule Relays. Both teams will be in action again the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Feb. 17.
