Several Bearcats Perform Well at Holiday Inn Invitational
LINCOLN, Neb. - Six Bearcat individuals placed in the top five of their respective events, in what capped a solid performance from the Northwest Missouri State Indoor Track and Field teams. The two teams performed at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Eric Isley lead the men's team, finishing first in the 800M run with a time of 1:56.19, defeating 42 other runners. Jeff Kanger and Jeff Ritchie also placed ninth and tenth in the 800M behind Isley. Freshman Keleen Green finished third of 68 in the 60M dash in 6.94 seconds, while sophomore Courtland Ingram continued his success in the pole vault, finishing fourth in the unseeded competition.
Matt Pohren led a quartet of Bearcat 3,000M runners, finishing fourth overall in 9:05.26, while Devin McCall and Brad Sorenson rounded out the top-20 overall in the 3,000M, each one placing 14th and 17th, respectively. John Bullock finished 12th in the 400M dash, and the distance medley "A" team finished ninth in 10:59.89.
The women's team was lead by thrower Abby Disselhoff, who placed third in the weight throw with a 46'0" mark. Freshman Tierney Eaton finished fifth in the unseeded high jump to round out Bearcat women in the top five of their events.
The women's distance medley team, comprised of Johanna Avilez, Catrina Bennett, Stacie Trulin, and Megan Robinson, took sixth of 13 teams. Trulin was also the first Bearcat of six to cross the finish line in the 400M dash, while Anna O'Brien finished first of five for Northwest and tenth overall in the 3,000M run.
The men's team will travel next weekend to the Kip Janvrin Pentathlon in Crete, Neb. Both Northwest teams will be in action again at the Iowa State Open on Jan. 22-23.
