2005-06 Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Recruits Announced

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State track & field / cross country programs and head coach Richard Alsup announced the signing of nine student-athletes to a NCAA National Letter of Intent. The list includes four who will participate in cross country and five in track and field.

2005-06 Northwest signees
* Sheldon Cook - Park Hill High School (track & field)
Cook, who is listed on the Bearcat football roster, is a 5-10, 180 pound freshman from Parkville, Mo. He took second at sectionals in the 100-meters with a time of 10.6.

* Marin Curley - Brookfield High School (track & field)
Curley is a 6-2, 175 pound freshman from Laclede, Mo. His personal best in the long jump was 22'4 which earned him state championship honors. He also participated in the triple jump where he had a personal best of 44'7".

* Gaylon Gorman - Schuyler County High School (cross country / track & field))
Gorman is a 6-1, 155 pound freshman from Queen City, Mo. He finished second at the state meet in the 800-meters with a mark of 1:56 and was fourth in the 3,200-meters with a time of 9:53.

* Keelen Green - Sulphur Springs (Tex.) High School (track & field)
Green, who will play football at Northwest in the fall, is a 5-8, 165 pound freshman from Sulphur Springs, Tex. He was a district champion in the 100-meters (10.4) and 200-meters (21.00).

* Austin Huerta - Gilbert (Ariz.) High School (cross country / track & field)
Huerta is a 5-10, 150 pound freshman from Mesa, Ariz. He set personal bests in the 800-meters (2:00), 1,600-meters (4:26), and 3,200-meters (9:50).

* Corey Mason - Putnam County High School (track & field)
Mason is a 6-0, 165 pound freshman from Unionville, Mo. His specialty is hurdles as he was second in both the 110-meter high hurdles (14.7) and 300-meter intermediate hurdles (39.6) at the state competition.

* Kyle Nespory - Liberty High School (track & field)
Nespory is a 5-10, 170 pound freshman from Liberty, Mo. He took second-place honors at district in the pole vault with a mark of 14'0".

* Jeff Ritchie - Buena Vista (Iowa) College (cross country / track & field)
Ritchie is a 6-0, 165 pound freshman from Bedford, Iowa. The Bedford High School graduate holds personal bests in the 1,600-meters (4:34) and 3,200-meters (9:54).

* Brad Sorensen - Essex (Iowa) High School (cross country / track & field)
Sorenson is a 5-10, 145 pound freshman from Clarinda, Iowa. He placed fifth at the state championships in the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:36. He also was eighth in the 3,200-meters with a clocking of 10:10.
