Clint Prange Tabbed as First Team Academic All-America Selection in Men's Track & Field

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University men's track and field student-athlete Clint Prange (Shelbyville, Mo.) has been honored with 2004-05 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division First Team accolades, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Prange is one of 12 repeat selections as he was a 2002-03 honoree.

Earlier this month, Prange was awarded with the Ken B. Jones Award for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Prange won 2005 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship honors in the shot put (66-1) and discus (191-11). His winning throw in the shot set a Division II championship meet record. Prange set the conference outdoor meet record in the shot put at the MIAA Championships (May 7) with a toss of 62 feet, 1 inch.

During the indoor season, he set
the school record in the shot put (61-11). At the NCAA Championships, Prange took third place to earn him All-America honors. Over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons, Prange won one MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week and four Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honors.

The 2004 Magna Cum Laude graduate is a agricultural business major and an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner from this past winter. Prange is Vice-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a charter member of the Collegiate Farm Bureau. A six-time All-American between the shot put and discus, Prange was a 2003 and 2005 Verizon First Team Academic All-Region pick.

Prange took second among all selections in voting, finishing behind Academic All-American (A-A-A) of the Year Ryan Koch from St. Cloud State. Prange received 110 points to the 131 of Koch. The voter ranks his or her top three candidates for A-A-A of the Year, with first-place receiving five points, second-place three points and third place one point.
