Recap of Day 2 at the Northwest Invitational
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- (Day 2 results) In Day two of the Northwest Missouri State Outdoor track and field Invitational the 'Cats finished strong. Sophomore Brandi Honeywell after placing first in all of her events in Day 1 of the Heptathlon took first place overall, placing first in her last three events of Day 2. Courtland Ingram placing 1st and Aaron Black taking third finished the Decatholon strong in Day 2.
Honeywell placing first in the Heptathlon jumped a distance of 16'08" in the Long Jump, threw 84'03" in the javelin and placed first in the 800m with a time of 2:38.10. Ingram taking a time of 16.16 in the 110m hurdles, threw a distance of 14'00" feet in the pole vault, 144'04" feet in the javeline and finished the 1500m run in 5:03.70 which led him to capture first place in the Decathlon. Black placing third in the Decathlon finished with a time of 21.12 in the 110m Hurdles, 10'03" in the pole vault, a distance of 140'03" in the javeline and took the time of 5:06.28 in the 1500m run.
Sophomore transfer from Graceland Brandon Winchester places second today in the javeline with a distance of
188'08". Senior Clint Prange once again takes first place in men's shot put with a launch of 59'04". Close behind him in third place Dallas Flynn threw 53'2". Adam Miller ties for second in the Pole Vault making the mark of 13'09". Freshman Caylon DeVaul ties for second in the men's high jump with the heigth of 5'8" and placed seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 39'09". Kendall Wright placed fourth in the the triple jump with a length of 43'09".
E.J. Falkner captured two first place titles today in the 100m dash and the 200m. Falkner timed a 21.51 in the 200 and 10.65 in the 100m. Falkner helped the 4x400 team to take second place with a total time of 3:23.34.
Freshman Jeff Kanger placed sixth in the 800m run beating his best time of the season with 1:59.69. In the 10000m run Matt Pohren took third place with a clock of 32:55.91.
On the women's side of the track and field Alisha Samuels placed second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.27. Sophomore Kailea Cook ran close behind her with a time of 12.56 snatching the third place spot. Samuels attacked the 200m dash receiving third place and making a time of 25.70 while Cook took the fifth place position with a time of 26.20.
Senior Katie Scherer threw 40'06" and captured third place. Fellow York, Neb. native Karah Spader placed sixth place today in the 1500m run with a time of 5:05.17.
The 'Cats will see more action the Tom Botts Invitational (Men only) April 8 & 9th in Columbia. While the women will be in Seward, Neb. at the Bulldog Invitational.
