Falkner, Samuels and Calbert all place in the top 10 in Day 2 of the NCAA National Championships
BOSTON, Mass. -- Northwest Missouri State University Track & Field had three individuals compete in the finals of Day 2 of the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. After day one with Wirt, Prange and Flynn placing high their events, day two was time for the sprinters to compete for their title.
Sophomore E.J. Falkner, after placing 9th in the prelims, captured second place with a time of 6.81 in the 60m dash. Falkner competed in the 200m dash by placing third overall with a clock of 21.64, moving three spots up from prelims.
Diezeas Calbert competed in the triple jump and ended in the 10th spot with a distance of 46'08".25 which did not qualify to jump in the finals.
Coach Richard Alsup commented "we are proud of him, he got here and finished in the top ten."
Junior Alisha Samuels took 8th place with a time of 7.69 in the 60m dash.
Overall the 'Cats had a successful season and will be looking to start outdoor track with the men in San Antonio on the March 18-19th and the women in Louisiana on the 19th.
