Clint Prange Tabbed Wilson/MIAA Field Athlete of the Week
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Senior Clint Prange (Shelbyville, Mo.) was honored with the Wilson/MIAA Field Athlete of the Week after bettering his shot put school record with a toss of 62'6 1/2" at the Central Missouri Classic this past Saturday. He previously set the Northwest standard of 61'2" done at the Iowa State Open (Jan. 29).
"He had just an outstanding day," said head coach Richard Alsup. "He threw real well as he had two throws over 60 feet. It is a very nice honor for him."
Prange is an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Indoor National Championships with the event scheduled for Mar. 11-12 in Boston, Mass. Despite his record-shattering performance, he remains third on the NCAA Performance List. The top two throwers, who are from California State Bakersfield, improved their personal marks as well over the weekend. Chris Figures is the top thrower at 64'10" while Van Mounts stands with a 63'1 1/2."
On the indoor season, Prange has taken first in the shot put on three occasions.
Prange and his teammates will be at the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday hosted by Central Missouri State.
