Northwest's Field Events Prosper at Iowa State Open's Day Two of Competition
Ames, IOWA -- Northwest Missouri State's indoor track and field take high rankings in the feild event categories as they finished day two at the Iowa State Open.
Senior Clint Prange took the highest ranking at the meet for Northwest placing second in the shot put with a throw of 61 feet and 2 inches - his toss broke Northwest school record which was previously held by Conrad Woolsey in 2002 (58' 10 1/4") and also automatically qualifies him for the national meet in May. Following behind him was Dallas Flynn, who finished sixth with a distance of 53'11". Flynn's effort was a personal best by nearly two feet and provisionally qualifies him. Extending the 'Cats success was Diezeas Calbert, who finished fourth in the Men's Triple Jump with a leap of 46'03".50.
Taking a glance at the track events, E.J. Falkner placed highly both in the 60m dash and 200m dash. In the 60m dash, Falkner was sixth with a time of 6.94 and in the 200m dash with a time of 21.89, he took third. His performance in the 60m was a personal best.
For the women, senior Katie Scherer placed in the top ten for the shot put (10th) with a distance of 39' 5 3/4".
In the 60m dash, Alisha Samuel placed third with a time of 7.69. Following after her in sixth place was Kailea Cook with a clock of 7.81. Samuel also placed fourth in the 200m dash taking a time of 25.69. Once again Cook placed ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.94.
The men's squad will take the weekend off while the women send select individuals to the Northern Iowa Open.
