Four Bearcats Qualify for Track and Field Nationals

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Two men's and two women's track and field athletes from Northwest will compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this month.
On the men's side, E.J. Falkner and Daniel McKim have each qualified in two events.
Falkner will compete in the 200-meter dash, entering the event with the 29th best time in the nation at 21.30 seconds. Falkner will also run the 400-meter dash, where he owns the 12th best time in NCAA Division II this season, 47.06.
McKim will take part in the shot put and the hammer throw. He enters competition with the eighth best throw this season in the shot put, a toss of 56-5.75. McKim's best hammer effort of the season, 183-9.75, gives him the 11th best mark of the year in Division II.
For the women, Mary Wirt qualified in two events and Alisha Samuel will take part in one.
Wirt will be competiting in the discus and the hammer throw. Wirt currently has the sixth best mark in the nation in the discus with a toss of 156-3.75. Her best hammer throw effort this year, 168-4.25, ranks her 18th coming into the competition.
Samuel qualified in the 100-meter dash. Her top time this season, 11.92, ranks her 16th coming into the national championship meet.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships are slated for May 27-29 at Mt. San Antonio Junior College in Walnut, Calif.
