EMPORIA, Kan. - The Northwest Missouri State University Track and Field squads participated in the Emporia State University D-II Challenge Saturday in Emporia, Kan.

The men finished ninth in the meet, led by Daniel McKim's (Jr., Maryville, Mo.) first place finish in the hammer throw. His toss of 181 feet, 10 inches provisionally qualified him for the national meet. McKim also took second place in the shot put with a mark of 53-8.25, which increased his provisional mark in that event from the 53-0 set March 18. In his final event, the discus, McKim placed fourth (154-11).

Travis Brownley (Fr., Carrollton, Mo.) helped McKim out in the shot put with an eighth place toss of 49-7.25. In other field events, Diezeas Calbert (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) took fourth place in the triple jump (45-11.75).

On the track, Jamison Phillips (Sr., Chesterfield, Mo.) placed second in the 10,000-meter run (32:16.11) which took place Friday night. Eric Isley (So., Pleasantville, Iowa) took seventh in the 800-meter run Saturday in a time of 1:55.84. Joel Terry (Sr., Grant City, Mo.) finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.64), while the 4x100-meter relay team finished seventh (42.74).

For the women, the 4x100-meter relay team had a decent finish in fifth place in a time of 49.16 seconds. Alisha Samuel (So., San Juan, Trinidad) finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.42 seconds, while Jessica Montesano (Jr., Kansas City, Mo.) took eighth in the women's 10,000-meter run held Friday night (42:08.51).

Brandi Honeywell (Fr., Kansas City, Mo.) competed in the heptathlon for the first time this season and placed 23rd out of 38 competitors. She earned a total of 3693 points.

The men and women will be back in action April 16 and 17 at the KU Relays in Lawrence, Kan., and the Doane Relays in Crete, Neb.
