BOSTON - The Northwest Missouri State University women's track and field team officially ended the 2004 indoor track season Saturday as Alisha Samuel (So., San Juan, Trinidad) took fifth place in the 60-meter dash finals at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Samuel clocked in at 7.70 seconds in the finals to finish fifth, which also gave her All-American status in that event.

She was the only Northwest competitor to reach the finals in national competition. Preliminary competitors yesterday included Kailea Cook in the 60-meter dash, Steph Suntken and Eric Isley in the 800-meter run, and Daniel McKim in the weight throw.

The Bearcats will begin the outdoor season March 18 at the Emporia State University Spring Twilight Meet in Emporia, Kan.
