WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's track and field members competed in their part of the Central Missouri State University Mule Relays Friday night.

Mary Wirt (Sr., Liberty, Mo.) came home with the only first-place finish of the night in the weight throw with a toss of 50 feet, 11.50 inches. She has already provisionally qualified for nationals in the event with a a mark of 52-6.50 at the Graceland Invitational. Abby Disselhoff (So., Kansas City, Mo.) followed in sixth place in the weight throw (46-7.25). Stacey Loemker (Fr., Beatrice, Neb.) led the women in the shot put with a ninth-place toss of 38-1.25.

On the track side, Alisha Samuel (So., San Juan, Trinidad) took third place in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.79 seconds. Kailea Cook (Fr., Parkville, Mo.) followed Samuel in seventh place in the 60-meter dash finals (7.87), although she finished ahead of Samuel in the preliminaries with a third-place time of 7.83 seconds. Samuel also took fifth place in the 200-meter dash (26.03).

Steph Suntken (Jr., Indianola, Iowa) continued to inch closer to the provisional qualifying mark in the 800-meter run with a fourth-place time of 2:19.08. She needs to run a 2:17.10 to provisionally qualify for nationals. Dia McKee (So., O'Fallon, Mo.) took 11th in the same event (2:29.64).

In other running events, Ashley Grosse (Jr., Blue Springs, Mo.) placed third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:24.62. Jessica Montesano (Jr., Kansas City, Mo.) followed in fifth place (20:32.14).

Gara Lacy (Sr., Jefferson City, Mo.) continued to do well in the jumps, placing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17-1.25. She also took seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 34-9.75.

The Bearcat men will compete in the CMSU Mule Relays Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The women will be back in action Feb. 13 at the Prairie Wolf Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
