LINCOLN, Neb. - The Northwest Missouri State University track and field teams took home several first-place finishes as the men placed second and the women third at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday.

The women racked up six champions at the meet to take third place, led by Alisha Samuel's (So., San Juan, Trinidad) wins in the 55-meter and 200-meter dashes. Her time of 7.25 seconds in the 55-meter beat out teammate Kailea Cook (Fr., Parkville, Mo.), who placed second in a time of 7.35 seconds. Samuel then won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.94, followed by Gara Lacy (Sr., Jefferson City, Mo.) in third place (27.84) and Cook in fourth place (27.98).

Lacy held her own in the field events, winning both the long jump (17 feet, 1.25 inches) and the triple jump (36-11). Ashley Nally (So., Bedford, Iowa) trailed Lacy in the long jump with a third-place leap of 16-6.25, while Steph Suntken (Jr., Indianola, Iowa) was right on her heels in fourth place (16-4.75). On the track, Suntken won the 880-yard run in a time of 2:22.20.

The women's 4x440 yard relay captured the final first-place finish in a time of 4:12.40. Second place finishes included Megan Robinson (Fr., Overland Park, Kan.) in the 440-yard dash (1:03.49), Dia McKee (So., O'Fallon, Mo.) in the 600-yard run (1:35.04), and Mary Wirt (Sr., Liberty, Mo.) in the weight throw (50-3.25).

The men also had six first-place finishes in the meet to finish second, led by Gabriel Helms' (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) winning time of 6.41 seconds in the 55-meter dash. He followed that performance with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (22.64). E.J. Faulkner (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) also made an impact in the sprints by taking first in the 440-yard dash (52.07) and third in the 55-meter dash (6.61).

Eric Isley (So., Pleasantville, Iowa) came off a provisional qualifying performance in the 800-meter run last week to place second in the 880-yard run (1:59.96) and fourth in the mile run (4:31.30).

In the field events, Diezeas Calbert (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) won the triple jump with a leap of 46-3.75 in addition to taking third in the long jump (21-2.50). Antony Jackson (Fr., Des Moines, Iowa) won the long jump with a leap of 21-6.75.

Daniel McKim (Jr., Maryville, Mo.) won the men's weight throw with a heave of 56-2.50 and took second in the shot put with a toss of 53-0. Travis Brownley (Fr., Carrollton, Mo.) took fourth in the shot (46-1.50).

The Bearcat women will participate in the CMSU Relays in Warrensburg, Mo., Feb. 6, while the Bearcat men will compete in their portion of the meet on Feb. 7.
