Tracksters Begin Season at ISU Holiday Open
| Top Finishers ISU Holiday Open | AMES, Iowa - The Northwest Missouri State University track and field team got the indoor season under way with a small group of athletes traveling to the Iowa State Holiday Open. The Northwest men were paced by Daniel McKim, who turned in two top-three finishes and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships in the shot put. McKim was third in the shot put with a toss of 54-feet 1.75-inches. He was second in the weight throw with a heave of 58-0.5. Jamison Phillips took a second-place finish in the 3000-meters with a time of 8:55.38. Eric Isley was second in the mile run, recording a time of 4:33.41. Joel Terry brought home a third-place mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.36 seconds. Mary Wirt provisionally qualified for the NCAA D-II Championships in the weight throw for the women. Her toss of 51-0.75 was good enough for third at the meet. Gara Lacy led the Bearcat women with two top four finishes. She was fourth in the long jump and the triple jump. Steph Suntken, who also plays volleyball for the 'Cats, was fourth in the 500-meter run with a clocking of 1:16.4. |
