MIAA releases softball preseason poll

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State softball team made their fourth consecutive trip to the MIAA tournament last season and look to pick up where they left off as the MIAA released their Preseason Coaches Poll on Friday.

Central Oklahoma holds onto the top spot in the MIAA after winning the DII National Championship in 2013. Northwest was picked eighth, which is where they finished at the end of the 2013 season.

The Bearcats graduated eight seniors from the 2013 roster and come into the season young and energetic. They are led by seniors Jordan Ereth and Kristin Uthe.

Ereth earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention in 2013 while hitting .331 with 11 stolen bases. Uthe played in 40 games for the Bearcats in 2013 and hit .310 while knocking in 33 RBI’s.

Northwest will open their season against Rogers State at the Arkansas-Monticello 7-State Classic Friday, Feb. 14.
