Softball hits the road for a four game set
MARYVILLE, Mo. – At the end of this weekend the Northwest Missouri State softball team will have played their last eight conference games on the road as they travel to Kearney, Neb. Friday and Fort Hays, Kan. Saturday.
Northwest comes into the weekend after taking both games of a double-header from Pittsburg State and splitting a double-header against Missouri Southern last weekend moving the team to 18-8 on the season with a 6-4 conference record.
The Bearcats are currently tied for fifth place in the conference with Truman State and Northeastern. Northwest ranks third in the MIAA in hitting as the team boasts a .319 average. The team ranks second in on-base percentage behind Central Oklahoma (.410) with a .400 OBP.
Candace Miller ranks fifth in the MIAA with 41 hits on the season while hitting .410. Stephanie Price has hit six home runs so far putting her in the top 10 in the conference and ranks first in hit by pitches with nine.
Senior pitcher Jenna Creger ranks second in ERA as she carries a 1.25 earned run average as opponents are hitting a baffling .190 off her this season. Creger will face off with Maddie Holub of Fort Hays this weekend as Holub currently leads the MIAA in earned run average posting a 0.84 ERA.
The Bearcats will take on Nebraska-Kearney in a double-header Friday with first pitch scheduled for noon. Head Coach Ryan Anderson’s team will be back on the road Saturday to take on the number one team in the MIAA , Fort Hays State, for a two game set starting at noon.
