Daugherty named first-team All-MIAA
OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Northwest Missouri State senior right fielder Kit Daugherty is a first-team outfielder on the 2011 All-MIAA Softball Team released Thursday in a ceremony held prior to the start of the MIAA Tournament at Blue Valley Recreational Complex.
Daugherty leads Northwest with a .380 batting average and with six home runs, 37 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. Her 24 RBIs rank third.
Daugherty set a program record by hitting safely in 19 consecutive games lasting from the end of February to the beginning of April. She hit .468 during the streak with five home runs, 17 RBIs and a team-best 23 runs scored. She had two hits or more in 13 of the 19 games.
In 22 conference games, Daugherty hit .383 with two homers, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored. She ranked in the top 10 of the league in average, runs, stolen bases and slugging percentage, finished second with 31 hits and led the league with three triples.
In addition to Daugherty's first-team nod, teammates Jenna Creger (P), Kristen Hessel (C), Hailee Hendricks (2B) and Dacey Hassey (DP) received honorable mention.
