Hassey Named Program's Second All-American
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State junior Dacey Hassey has been named a second-team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Wednesday night in a ceremony held in St. Joseph, Mo. Hassey joins Teresa Gumm (1983) as the only All-Americans in program history.
Hassey made the team as a utility player and for good reason. She started games at catcher, third base, right field and designated player for the Bearcats this season. At the plate, she hit .375 with four home runs, 24 runs scored and 38 RBIs, which tied for the team lead. She also had 15 doubles and an on-base percentage of .433.
Hassey struck out eight times in 160 at bats and was the 53rd toughest player to strikeout in the nation. She started all 50 games for Northwest, which finished with a 26-24 record.
