Leslie Named First-Team All-Region
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State senior Erin Leslie has been selected a first-team all-region designated player by CoSIDA as the 2010 Daktronics South Central All-Region Team was released Wednesday. Leslie will now be placed on the All-America ballot and has a chance to become the program's second All-American and first since 1983.
Leslie led the Bearcats with a .445 batting average, eight home runs, 38 RBIs, 44 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. With the exception of runs scored, all of those marks are career bests.
Leslie hit safely in 43 of the team's 50 games and led the MIAA in hits per game. Her batting average ranks third in the South Central Region and 23rd in the nation. In other regional rankings, Leslie ranks third in on-base percentage (.505) and fourth in slugging percentage (.713).
Leslie, Northwest's all-time leading scorer with 154 runs, is one of four MIAA players listed on the first team while five conference players were second-team choices. Emporia State's Miranda Campbell was named regional player of the year while Midwestern State's Katie Petersen was named pitcher of the year.
