Leslie, Hassey Named First-Team All-MIAA
MARYVILLE, Mo.—Northwest Missouri State senior Erin Leslie and junior Dacey Hassey are first-team selections as the 2010 All-MIAA Softball Team was announced recently by the conference office. Leslie was the choice at designated player while Hassey was selected as a utility player.
Leslie is a first-team choice for the second time in three seasons. She led the Bearcats with a .445 batting average, eight home runs, 38 RBIs, 44 runs scored and 19 stolen bases. With the exception of runs scored, all of those marks are career bests.
Leslie hit safely in 43 of the team’s 50 games and led the MIAA in hits per game. She ranks third in the MIAA and 26th nationally with her .445 average. In conference rankings, Leslie ranks third in triples, fourth in stolen bases and sixth in runs. Her .713 slugging percentage ranks third and her .505 on-base percentage ranks fourth.
Leslie batted .400 in 20 conference games. She hit five home runs, drove in 11 runs and scored 15 times.
Hassey is in her first season at Northwest following two years at East Central College. Hassey started games in right field, third base, catcher and designated player. She hit .375 with 15 doubles, four home runs, 38 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Hassey had 19 multi-hit games and led the team with 10 multi-RBI performances.
Hassey’s .375 average ranks eighth in the MIAA. She ranks fifth in the league in doubles, eighth in hits and 10th with a .433 on-base percentage.
Hassey batted .397 in 20 conference games with two homers, eight RBIs and 11 runs scored. Her nine doubles ranked second in the MIAA.
Northwest finished 26-24 overall and 9-11 in league play, good for a tie for sixth place. The Bearcats rank 71st nationally in scoring, averaging 5.2 runs per game.
