Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State's lone senior Erin Leslie smacked two home runs (one inside-the-park) but couldn't outmuscle Southwest Baptist which sent five over the fence to get two road wins Saturday at Bearcat Field. Scores went 3-2 and 7-5.

Leslie, Northwest's all-time leading scorer, went 4-for-6 on senior day and scored three runs for 150 in her four-year career. She moved into second place on the program's all-time RBI list with 115 and into sixth on the home run list with 21. Leslie leads the team with a .439 batting average, seven home runs, 35 RBIs and 40 runs this season.

Nina Amaro-Garcia, Devon McNeal and Katrina Munoz each hit solo shots to account for Southwest Baptist's runs in the opener. Leslie hit a solo shot in a two-run fourth inning for the Bearcats. Southwest Baptist pitcher Josie Rose (15-17) scattered five hits and struck out eight to earn the win.

Munoz added a two-run homer in the sixth inning of game two that gave the purple Bearcats a 7-4 lead. Munoz finished 4-for-7 on the day with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Like game one, Leslie led off the fourth inning with a homer. This one started as a line drive that got past a diving McNeal in right field. The ball rolled all the way to the wall and the relay home was too late to get Leslie. Northwest added another run in the inning and trailed 3-2.

Leslie led off the seventh inning with a double and scored on an RBI single by Dacey Hassey to make it 7-5. Rose, who returned to pitch in the fifth inning of game two, retired the next three batters to preserve the win.

Northwest (22-20, 6-9 MIAA) will play its final home games Sunday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Central Missouri. Southwest Baptist (23-28, 6-10), which began the day in 10th place in the MIAA standings, now finds itself a half game behind Northwest. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament, which begins Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.
