MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State senior second baseman Erin Leslie went 5-for-7 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored Saturday on day two of the MIAA North Crossover Tournament hosted by Northwest.

The Bearcats finished 2-2 at the tournament after losing 10-4 to Pittsburg State and dropping an 8-2 decision to fourth-ranked Emporia State Saturday. Northwest is 19-18 overall.

Leslie, who was the designated player in game one, finished 3-for-4, including a two-run homer in the bottom of the third that cut Pittsburg State's lead to 6-3.

Emporia State pitcher Karley Schmelzer was one out away from earning her second shutout of the season, but gave up a two-run double to Lauren Chatigny with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Hornets held an 8-0 lead at the time.

Leslie had two of Northwest's five hits off Schmelzer and finished 2-for-3 in the nightcap. Schmelzer finished with 11 strikeouts.
