Daugherty Doubles, Triples in 10-1 Win
JOPLIN, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State right fielder Kit Daugherty had a double, a triple and four RBIs to lead the Bearcats to a 10-1, five-inning win against Quincy Friday on day one of the Pittsburg State/Missouri Southern Crossover tournament at Four Seasons Sports Complex.
Northwest (3-5) scored three runs in the third, one in the fourth and had five hits during a six-run fifth inning. Daugherty had an RBI triple in the third and a bases-clearing double in the fifth.
Dacey Hassey had two hits and drove in three runs and Erin Leslie had two hits and scored twice. Leslie has hit safely in all eight games this season. Her 117 career runs are four shy of the program record.
Bearcat pitcher Jenna Creger (2-4) allowed three hits in five innings to earn her second win in as many starts. A solo home run by Tiffany Brakeville in the third provided the lone run for Quincy (1-1).
Northwest continues tournament play Saturday with games against Nebraska-Omaha (10 a.m.), Missouri S&T (noon) and Oklahoma Panhandle State (4 p.m.).
