UND Box Score | MSU Box Score

MANKATO, Minn.-The Bearcats were finally able to take the field in Minnesota Sunday and walked away with a two-game split at Minnesota State's Microtel Inn & Suites Softball Tournament.

Northwest extended its winning streak to seven games following a 5-2 win against North Dakota in game one. The host-Mavericks scored 12 runs in the fifth inning en route to a 22-8 win against Northwest in game two. The split moves the Bearcats to 29-18 on the season.

Erin Leslie, Cortney Channell and Tiffany Carter each homered on the day and drove in at least three runs each. Carter gave Northwest a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning against North Dakota with her sixth home run of the season. Her sacrifice fly in the third made it 4-2.

Cola Krueger (12-7) continued her recent dominance in the circle. She pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in the opener and didn't allow an earned run. A two-run homer in the first did the only damage against Krueger. She allowed one single and one runner to reach second the rest of the way.

Krueger has pitched four consecutive complete games, all Northwest wins. She has 28 strikeouts in 28 innings, allowed 15 hits and one earned run (0.25 ERA).

Minnesota State pounded out 21 hits in five innings and made the most of three Northwest errors. The Mavericks scored six runs in the third and had eight hits in their 12-run fifth. Three Northwest miscues led to eight unearned runs.

Leslie was 3-for-4 against MSU, smacked her third home run of the season, roped her 10th double and drove in three runs. Channell belted her team-leading eighth home run in a five-run fourth inning for the Bearcats that closed the gap to 10-7.

Casey Carper increased her school record for triples in a season with her 11th in the opening game against North Dakota. Carter has 46 RBIs this season, two shy of the program's single-season record.
