Bearcats Can't Salvage a Split at Cameron

Game One Box Score | Game Two Box Score

LAWTON, Okla.-Cameron scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to complete a doubleheader sweep of Northwest Missouri State Tuesday at Cameron Field. The Aggies won game one 10-1 in six innings and game two 9-8.

Whitney Richardson tied the game at eight with a two-out double and Courtney Clifford won it with a base hit to right field to move the Aggies to 21-18 on the season. Northwest, which had won 11 of its last 13 entering play Tuesday, fell to 13-7.

Erin Leslie was 5-for-6 with two walks on the day to lead Northwest and turned in her first three-hit performance of the season in the nightcap. The Bearcats had 13 hits in game two, but three errors led to four unearned runs.

Casey Carper tripled in the first game and cleared the bases with another in game two. Northwest scored five runs in the second inning of the nightcap to take a 6-0 lead.

Chelsey Jordan hit a two-run homer in both the second and third innings as part of seven unanswered runs scored by the Aggies. Jordan drove in five runs on the day.

Tiffany Graham put the Bearcats back on top with a two-run single in the top of the fifth. Graham was 2-for-4 in game two with three RBIs and one run scored.

Kelly Morris (8-5), who entered in relief back in the third inning for Northwest, pitched into the seventh. The Aggies reached base on an error to start the inning followed by a base hit that put runners on first and second with no outs.

Cameron sacrificed the runners to second and third and Morris got Jordan to pop out to third before Richardson and Clifford delivered for the Aggies.

Ashton McBride earned both wins for Cameron. She pitched a complete-game, four-hitter in the opener before throwing three innings of relief in game two. She had just one strikeout in the 37 batters she faced, but allowed two runs in nine innings pitched on the day.

Up Next: Northwest continues its Spring Break trip with a doubleheader at Central Oklahoma tomorrow (Wednesday) in Edmond, Okla.
