Softball Signs Four to National Letters of Intent
MARYVILLE - Northwest Missouri State softball and head coach Ryan Anderson have announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent: Jennifer Bohle, Nicole Ackelson, Lauren Peters and Hailee Hendricks. They mark the first signees of the 2008 signing class.
"We are excited about this class and we are looking for all four to be an impact on our team next year," said Anderson. "They all have the potential to come in and play immediately for our program."
A two-time all-state selection, Ackelson led Adel-DeSoto-Minburn to a runner-up finish in the state tournament last season. She earned all-conference and all-district honors in the past two seasons while also earning Radio Iowa Player of the Week accolades in 2007 and Scheel's Sporting Goods Jock of the Week in 2006. In 2005, Ackelson earned the Character Counts Award.
Bohle holds the Nebraska high school stolen bases record with 50 in 2006 and 143 throughout her career at Westside High School in Omaha, Neb. She is a four-time all-state honoree, picking up first-team awards in 2006, and was named to the Omaha All-Metro team in 2006 and 2007. Bohle earned all-division first-team honors in her last three seasons. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and received the scholar-athlete award in 2006 and 2007.
Hendricks is a four-time first-team all-state, all-district and all-region honoree. In her four seasons, Miller High School never finished lower than fourth in state competition, finishing runner-up in 2006. She is a three-time Joplin Globe All-Area Team member and a two-time first-team All-Ozarks selection. Hendricks is also active in FFA and National Honor Society.
The 2007 Ozark Conference Player of the Year, Peters holds 11 season and career records at Glendale High School in Springfield, Mo. She has been named to the all-district team all four years, the Springfield News-Leader 4A All-District team and Ozark All-Conference team the last three years and the all-region team in 2006 and 2007. Peters is a four-time Offensive Player of the Year as awarded by Glendale High School and earned MVP and Golden Glove honors from GHS last season. She was named academic all-conference all four seasons and has been active in National Honor Society in 2006 and 2007.
"Not only are they four good players, but they're good individuals as well," said Anderson. "Nicole is a good pitcher now, but we're hoping that the extra three feet in college will make her that much better. Jennifer, Hailee and Lauren will all bring some speed to this team."
