Bearcat Softball Season Ends; Misses Out on Regional Tournament

MARYVILLE – The Northwest Missouri State softball season officially came to an end late Sunday (May 6) after missing the cut for the eight-team field in the North Central Regional Tournament. The top eight seeds advanced to the regional, hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato from May 10-13.

Northwest lost to Washburn 3-1 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Tournament on Saturday (May 5). The Bearcats went 2-2 at the Tournament, defeating Missouri Southern and Central Missouri, one of the regional participants.

The Bearcats end their season with a 25-18 overall record and a No. 5 seed in the MIAA Tournament. Earlier in the season, Northwest was ranked in the NFCA Coaches' Poll three times reaching as high as No. 22 (March 7).

Northwest extended its school record streak to eight straight seasons of 20-plus wins.
