Ryan Anderson Named Head Softball Coach
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Boerigter has announced Ryan Anderson as the Head Softball Coach. Anderson has spent the past three years as the head softball coach at the University of Missouri-Rolla. He replaces Susan Anderson, who accepted the head coaching position at Central Missouri State University.
"I'm looking forward to the opportunity," said Anderson, whose duties will officially begin on Aug. 1. "I'm excited about getting back into the MIAA."
At Missouri-Rolla, Anderson led the Lady Miners to a school record for wins in a season and conference wins in a season. Anderson's teams set and broke over 20 team records, and achieved the school's first recognition in nationwide rankings. He achieved regional rankings for three seasons, and saw one athlete named conference MVP under his direction. Anderson also led UMR to its first back-to-back winning seasons.
Prior to Missouri-Rolla, Anderson was the head softball coach for the University of Minnesota, Crookston in 2003. Anderson led the team to a school record for conference wins in a season.
Anderson began coaching at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, serving as an assistant coach for two seasons. A 1999 graduate of UNK, he received a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration with a minor in Business Administration.
"I am very pleased that Ryan Anderson has agreed to accept our invitation to join the Northwest family," commented Dr. Boerigter. "Coach Anderson comes to us very qualified, highly recommended and well respected. We are confident that Ryan will continue to provide the leadership we were seeking to direct our very successful softball program."
