Softball shuts out Missouri Southern
JOPLIN, Mo.-The Northwest softball team tossed a pair of shutouts Saturday afternoon beating Missouri Southern 1-0 and 5-0 to improve their record to 35-11.
Northwest, in the midst of a roadtrip has won six straight MIAA games.
The Bearcats were held scoreless Saturday until the top of the seventh inning, when Tristin Brown scored on a Katy John single. The single run was enough for Northwest, thanks to a strong outing by freshman pitcher Cola Kreuger. The freshman gave up just two hits.
In Game 2, the same strong pitching was there, but Northwest's bats also came alive.
The Bearcats scored a run in the first inning, third inning and three in the top of the fifth. Lindsay Stephenson had a huge game, knocking in all five runs for Northwest, including two homeruns.
Not to be outdone, Talina Canon fired a one-hit shutout in the circle.
Defensively, Northwest has not allowed a run in 21 innings.
