MacDonald picked up her career-high 14th win of the season, a 77-pitch complete game shutout, as she allowed three hits and no walks in Game 1. The Bearcats got all the offense they would need in the third inning. Junior Katy John notched her first triple of 2005 and was bunted in by sophomore Linellis Santiago. Junior Ashley Pride, who went 3-for-4 in the contest, rapped a three-RBI double in the seventh. She leads the club with 26 RBIs on the season.
John and sophomore Tami Phillips each had two hits. MacDonald allowed one baserunner to reach past first base on a first-inning double.
In Game 2, Canon went seven innings to move to 3-3 on the year. She gave up four hits and struck out three for her second 2005 shutout. Northwest notched an unearned run in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Jaclyn Brown, who was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, opened up the inning with a single.
