Bearcats Sign Harrisonville's Krohn
All-conference - 2001, 2002, 2003
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head softball coach Susan Anderson has announced the signing of Janelle Krohn (Harrisonville, Mo.) to national letters-of-intent.
Krohn is a senior at Harrisonville High School and was a three-time all-conference selection at first base. She earned all-district and all-region honors as a junior in 2002. Krohn was also named her team's defensive player of the year as a sophomore and offensive player of the year as a junior.
Krohn holds single-season records at Harrisonville High School for hits, triples, runs batted in, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Krohn also holds career records for hits, triples, slugging percentage, runs batted in, runs and putouts. Krohn batted .458 as a junior, while compiling a .456 batting average last season.
"Janelle is a great utility player," Anderson said. "She does a real nice job at first and has real soft hands. We're really looking forward to her continuing her success at the plate here at Northwest. She has the ability to play infield and outfield, which is nice. Plus, academically, she is a great student and will be a good addition to our program."
Krohn played for the KC Force in the summers and reached USSA World Series last summer, the ASA Nationals in 2002, the NSA Super World Series in 2000 and 2001. She helped her team to a fifth-place finish in the NSA Super World Series in 2001. Krohn's team was second in the USSA State Tournament in 2003, while also advancing to the USSA World Series.
Krohn is a standout athlete in other sports for Harrisonville High School as well. She is a four-year letterwinner in soccer, earning all-district honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior. Krohn is also a two-year letterwinner in basketball.
Academically, Krohn is a member of the National Honor Society, the HHS Principal's Honor Roll and was a district winner in FBLA competition in 2002. She is a Missouri Scholar finalist.
Krohn will be a freshman at Northwest this fall.
