Bearcat Softball Signs Three Recruits
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head softball coach Susan Anderson has announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters-of-intent. Amy Farrow (Lenexa, Kan.), Molly Harness Parkville, Mo.) and Lauren Lakebrink (Liberty, Mo.) have eached signed to play softball for the Bearcats.
Farrow is a senior at Shawnee Mission West High School. She is a middle infielder/outfielder. Farrow led Shawnee Mission West to the Kansas 6A State Tournament in 2001 and 2002. She is a first-team All-Sunflower League selection and was second-team all-Johnson County, second-team all-metro and second-team All-Sun Country.
Farrow batted .418 for Shawnee Mission West last season. She had a slugging percentage of .537 and an on-base percentage of .493. She also plays summer ball for the K.C. Fusion. Farrow has been successful in the classroom as well. She ranks 22nd in a class of 493 and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Harness is a senior catcher at Park Hill South High School. She has been named her team's Most Valuable Player in each of the past two seasons. She is a two-time first-team all-conference selection, while also earning first-team all-district honors for the past two years.
Harness was an all-region selection last season and was a team captain at Park Hill South.
Lakebrink, a pitcher/outfielder, is currently a senior at Liberty High School. She has been a team captain for Liberty for the past two seasons and was a four-year letterwinner and starter. Lakebrink has held school records for most wins by a pitcher, longest winning streak and lowest earned-run average. She helped lead Liberty to a conference championship last season and to back-to-back district championships in 2001 and 2002. She was a second-team all-state performer last season, while earning all-district and all-conference honors as well.
Lakebrink currently plays summer ball for the K.C. Peppers. She joined the Peppers at the 2003 ASA Gold Nationals, where she had a 0.00 earned-run average in 9.1 innings pitched. She pitched 222.1 innings over the summer with the K.C. Force and put together an ERA of 1.07 with 216 strikeouts and just 56 walks. She also batted .314 with five doubles, 10 triples and four home runs for the Force last summer.
All three of the Bearcat recruits will be freshmen at Northwest next fall.
