Bearcats and Griffons Play to 1-1 Tie
St. Joseph, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s soccer team played their third straight overtime game Tuesday resulting in a 1-1 tie with Missouri Western.
The first half was even between the two teams as they both managed three shots on goal with one finding the back of the net.
The Griffons scored the first goal of the game in the 21st minute when Tara Russell put in her fourth goal of the season.
Anna Calgaard did not wait long to answer back as she found the back of the net with her team leading third goal of the season in the 25th minute to tie it up 1-1.
The second half was a battle of possession with the Bearcats not being able to manage a shot on goal while the defense stepped up to keep the game tied and send it into overtime.
Neither team got a clean shot on goal during the overtime periods keeping the match knotted up 1-1 and resulting in a tie.Soccer fans will not have to wait long for a rematch as Missouri Western will head to Northwest to take on the Bearcats on Bearcat Pitch Friday with kickoff scheduled for 4 pm.
