Bearcats to Participate in Kickin' for a CureMARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's soccer team will partner with St. Francis Hospital to help create awareness and education of breast cancer on Friday, Oct. 11, when the Bearcats host Emporia State at 3:30 p.m. The event is part of the national NCAA campaign "Kick for the Cure," and the team will be wearing custom pink jerseys in support of the event.
"We are looking forward to supporting the Bearcat Women's Soccer team and Bearcat Athletics through this healthy community collaborative," said Rita Miller, Director of Community Relations and Development with St. Francis. "It is a special opportunity to work together to raise awareness and educate the public about breast cancer and the importance of early screening, as well as helping a local family dealing with cancer."
St. Francis Hospital will be on hand to help provide information before, during and after the contest. There will be a silent auction for people to bid on items (autographed jersey, soccer ball, youth camp entry, etc.). Every year, Northwest athletics donates proceeds from its breast cancer events on campus to benefit local families that are facing breast cancer. If you would like to nominate a family that is currently battling any type of cancer for the Bearcats to assist, please nominate them HERE.
