Northwest soccer picked 4th in coaches poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After earning a trip to the MIAA tournament last season the Northwest Missouri State women’s soccer team was picked to finish fourth by league coaches in the MIAA Preseason Poll announced by the league office Thursday.
Defending MIAA champion, Central Missouri was picked first with 12 first place votes and 144 points. MIAA newcomer, Central Oklahoma was tabbed second after an NCAA Regional appearance as an independent last season. The Bronchos were followed by Truman State who received one first place vote.
The Bearcats were followed by Missouri Southern, who received just two fewer votes to round out the top five. Also in its first MIAA season, Northeastern State was picked at No. 6 with Fort Hays State at No. 7 and Southwest Baptist at No. 8. The final two newcomers Nebraska-Kearney and Lindenwood check in at No. 9 and No. 10.
Emporia State was picked 11th followed by Washburn at 12th and Missouri Western rounding out the list at No. 13.
Northwest opens the season Aug. 31 at home against St. Cloud State.
