Northwest continues MIAA play
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State Women’s soccer team will travel to Emporia State Friday for a 4 p.m. start and face Washburn back at home Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Bearcats come into this week with a 5-3-2 record, 3-1-1 in the MIAA making them fourth in the conference standings.
Central Oklahoma (9-1-1, 4-0-1) is at the top of the conference, followed by Central Missouri (7-1-2, 4-0-1) and Truman State (8-2, 4-1).
Northwest comes into this week ranked third in the conference in shots (179). The Bearcats have made their shots count as they are tied for second in the MIAA in goals (25) and one goal behind the conference leader.
Northwest has individuals at the top of the leader board as well.
Victoria Von Mende ranks third in the conference in goals (7) and goals per game (.70). Amanda Bundrant is in the top 10 in assists averaging .30 per game.
The Bearcat defense has put together two shutouts in the past two weeks. Northwest also held No. 18 Central Oklahoma to one goal for only the third time this season
Kelsey Adams has been a key for the Bearcats in goal. Adams ranks first in the MIAA in saves (68) and saves per game (6.80).
Northwest will travel to Emporia State (3-6-1, 0-4-1) Friday with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. The Bearcats will return home for a Sunday matchup with Washburn (2-8, 2-3) 1 p.m.
