Bearcats return home for 3 game set
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s soccer team will host non-conference opponent Graceland Tuesday before a pair of MIAA matches on the weekend. Northeastern State Friday 4 p.m. and Central Oklahoma Sunday 1 p.m.
The Bearcats are coming off a huge overtime victory against MIAA rival Missouri Western capturing a 1-0 win. The victory brings Northwest’s record to 4-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
After two weeks of MIAA play the Bearcats have looked good as a team. Northwest ranks third in the conference in shots (136), third in goals (20) and third in saves (46).
Kelsey Adams is coming off her first shutout of the season against Missouri Western. Adams shutout the Griffons through regulation and nearly two overtime periods before Elizabeth Walde scored the game winner in the second overtime.
Victoria Von Mende is fourth among point leaders in the conference (12) and third in points per game (1.7).
“This is going to be a big week for us coming up.” Head Coach Tracy Hoza said. “We have two very good conference matchups this week. It will be a good test for our girls.”
Northwest will welcome non-conference opponent Graceland (8-2) to Bearcat Pitch Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The Bearcats will resume MIAA play when Northeastern State (6-1, 2-1) comes to Maryville Friday for a 4 p.m. kickoff and again Sunday against Central Oklahoma to finish out the home stand.
