Bearcats take on MIAA rival Missouri Western

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State women’s soccer team will travel to St. Joseph Friday for an important MIAA matchup with rival Missouri Western Griffons.

The Bearcats come into the match at 3-2-1 on the season, and 1-1 in the conference.

Northwest is coming off their opening week of MIAA play taking a 3-2 win over Lindenwood (3-2-1, 0-2) Friday before falling to Truman State (5-1, 2-0) Sunday, 3-0.

Victoria Von Mende posted a hat trick against Lindenwood which added to her team leading six goals on the 2012 season. Von Mende is tied for second in the MIAA in goals and fourth in points.

Goalie Kelsey Adams leads the conference in saves with 40 and is averaging 6.67 saves per game which is also tops in the MIAA.

Northwest as a team is tied for the conference lead in goals and are second in goals per game and points.

Kickoff between the Bearcats and Griffons (3-3, 1-1) is set for 7 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph.
