Bearcats to take on Hornets in MIAA Tournament
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Regular season action is complete and the bracket is set for the MIAA Soccer Championship Tournament Nov. 3-6 at Stanley H. Durwood Soccer Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
MIAA regular season champion Central Missouri is the No. 1 seed in the tournament, Truman is the No. 2 seed, Missouri Southern is the No. 3 seed, while Emporia State is the No. 5 seed, and Southwest Baptist is the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
The tournament will kick off Thursday with Missouri Southern taking on Southwest Baptist at 3 p.m. Northwest Missouri and Emporia State will face off Thursday at 6 p.m.
The Bearcats faced the Emporia State Hornets (3-9-5, 2-5-1 MIAA) once this season and defeated them at Bearcat Pitch in Maryville, Mo. 2-1. Victoria Von Mende scored both of the Bearcats’ goals in the victory while sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Adams recorded five saves in the match.
Coach Hoza’s thoughts on Emporia going into Thursday’s game, “Emporia is a very organized, defensive team. We will have to work hard and smart to break through them.”
Friday, Truman will face the winner of Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist at 1p.m., followed by Central Missouri taking on the winner of Northwest and Emporia State at 4 p.m.
The championship will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m., featuring the winners of Friday’s games.
