Bearcats head to Missouri Southern

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University women’s soccer team returns to MIAA action Thursday night when they travel to Joplin, Mo. to take on the Missouri Southern Lions.
Northwest (9-4-2, 5-2 MIAA) matches up against the Lions (5-9-1, 5-2 MIAA) Thursday night at Hal Bodon Field at 6 p.m. The Bearcats are coming off of a 1-1 week for the week of Oct. 17. The Bearcats were blanked 2-0 by conference powerhouse No. 10 Central Missouri but rebounded quickly and ended their week by beating future MIAA foe Lindenwood 1-0.
Senior Hannah Silvey scored the Bearcats' goal in the 1-0 victory over Lindenwood. It was Silvey's second goal of the season.
The Missouri Southern Lions are coming off of being defeated by No. 10 Central Missouri 6-1. Sophomore Dana Wilhelm scored the Lions lone goal in the loss. It was Wilhelm’s second goal of the season. Missouri Southern is led is scoring by Megan Stueve who has scored six goals this season.
Thursday’s match between Northwest and Missouri Southern will be the 24th meeting for the Lions and Bearcats; Northwest leads the series 12-9-3. The Bearcats defeated the Lions in Maryville 4-1 back on September 29.
Up Next: Northwest will conclude their 2011 schedule on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they head to Southwest Baptist. The Bearcats defeated the Southwest Baptist Bearcats in Maryville 2-0 earlier in the season.
