MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team returns to MIAA action Tuesday night when they host the Emporia State Hornets.
Northwest (4-2-2, 1-0 MIAA) matches up against the Hornets (1-4-4, 0-1 MIAA) Tuesday night at 4 p.m. at Bearcat Pitch. The Bearcats are coming off of a dominating 4-1 victory over Missouri Southern last Thursday but although Missouri Southern is in the MIAA, the victory did not factor into Northwest's MIAA record due to the 2011 conference expansion.
In the victory over Missouri Southern the Bearcats' Victoria Von Mende notched her sixth goal of the season while Northwest's leading scorer Tammie Eiberger scored her eighth goal of the season as well as contributed an assist in the victory. Fiona Maloney and Emilee Davison each picked up their first goals of the season in the win as well while sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Adams picked-up her fourth win of the season.
Tuesday night will be the MIAA road opener for Emporia State. The Hornets are coming off of a 2-1 loss to Missouri Southern last week in which they outshot Southern 19-8 and 10-5 on goal but were unable to capitalize down the stretch.
This will be the twenty-second meeting between Northwest and Emporia State and the Bearcats are 11-7-2 when facing the Hornets. Last time the two teams met they played to a 3-3 draw.
Up Next: The Bearcats finish their five game home-stand on Thursday night when they host Truman State at 4 p.m. at Bearcat Pitch.
