Northwest Hosts Missouri Southern
2011 MIAA Bearcat Soccer l Follow the Bearcats LIVE
MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Bearcat soccer team looks to return to their winning ways when they host Missouri Southern Thursday afternoon.
Northwest (3-2-2, 1-0 MIAA) matches up against the Missouri Southern Lions (0-6-1, 0-1 MIAA) Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Bearcats are coming off of a 4-0 loss to the twelfth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies in which Northwest was outshot 25-5 while Missouri Southern is also coming off of a 3-0 loss to conference powerhouse Central Missouri. It was the third time this season that the Lions were shutout.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Adams once again played outstanding defense against the Jennies compiling fourteen saves in the loss but offensively Northwest was only able to put two shots on goal in the loss.
Last season Northwest lost 1-2 and tied 0-0 when facing Southern; overall, the Bearcats are 11-10-3 when facing the Lions and 7-3-1 when facing them at Bearcat Pitch.
Up Next: The Bearcats will enjoy the weekend off before they host two MIAA games next week. Tuesday they will welcome Emporia State at 4 p.m. at Bearcat Pitch followed by hosting Emporia State University Thursday afternoon.
