Sunday Soccer Fest

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State's soccer program is inviting members of the Northwest community to attend Soccer Fest Sunday at Bearcat Pitch in an effort to raise money for those affected by the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.

Soccer Fest features 8-on-8 matches from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a penalty-kick competition between team captains Scott Bostwick, Northwest's head football coach, and Northwest president Dr. John Jasinski slated for 3 p.m.

"(Former graduate assistant) Shuhei Sano (Sendai, Japan) dedicated his time, passion and energy to our program and to this event the last four years," said Northwest head soccer coach Tracy Hoza. "We want to reach out to the Japanese community in honor of Shuhei and assist all of our Japanese alumni through this difficult time."

All proceeds generated from Soccer Fest will go directly to the American Red Cross. The program hopes to raise $1,000.
