EMPORIA, Kan.-Northwest Missouri State freshman Emilee Davison scored in the 77th minute of the Bearcats' 1-0 win against Emporia State Sunday in an MIAA duel at ESU Pitch. It's the first collegiate goal for Davison and the first win of the season for Northwest (1-3-2), which moved to 1-2-1 in conference play.
The goal was set up by a Northwest corner. Kelly Obley sent a ball into the box that was deflected several times before finding the foot of Davison who finished the play. Northwest had taken five corner kicks in the contest before scoring on its sixth opportunity.
Bearcat keeper Kelsey Adams faced just two shots on goal, but made the play both times to earn her first collegiate win and shutout. Northwest's defense was up to the task and allowed nine shot attempts in 90 minutes.
