Lazenby Adds a Goal in Her Final Performance
BOLIVAR, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State goalkeeper Kira Lazenby provided the only offense and much of the defense Saturday in a 2-1 loss at Southwest Baptist. It was the final game of 2009 for both teams.
Lazenby, a senior who scored a goal in the final game of last season, duplicated the feat in her final game this season. She scored on a free kick with less than three minutes to play for the final score of the game. She also faced 22 shots from the "purple" Bearcats and allowed only a penalty kick goal by Kelly Isaac and an own goal. Both scores came early in the second half.
Lazenby ends a two-year career at Northwest as the program's all-time leader in save percentage (.838) and goals against average (0.95). Her 16 shutouts are a program record and her 20 wins at goal are second.
Northwest (11-8-1, 7-8-1 MIAA) finishes with 11 wins, its most in 11 seasons (program started in 1999). Southwest Baptist finishes with a 7-9-3 record.
