Bearcats Record School Record 11th Win of the Season
MARYVILLE, Mo. -Northwest Missouri State's Senior Day was special for more than one reason on Saturday afternoon at the Bearcat Pitch. The Bearcat soccer team recorded a program-record 11th win of the season in Northwest's 1-0 victory over Missouri Southern on Senior Day.
Senior Andrea Tritz recorded her seventh goal of the season in the 44th minute of the match. Tritz took the ball just past mid-field and weaved her way through the Missouri Southern defense before firing the ball into the corner of the net for her eighth game-winning goal of her career.
Senior goalkeeper Kira Lazenby recorded four saves in the victory. Lazenby recorded her 16th career shutout in the win. Northwest out-shot Missouri Southern 14 to six in the match. Eight of the Bearcats' shots were on goal.
In all, nine Bearcats were playing their final games in a Bearcat uniform at home. Seniors include, Lazenby, Abby Hobgood, Tritz, Shannon Fitzgerald, Heidi Sobota, Jessica Braun, Rae Hildreth, Sara Meidlinger and Rikki Southard.
Northwest (11-6-1, 7-6-1 MIAA) will next travel to Central Missouri to play the Jennies on Nov. 5 at noon.
