Northwest to Host Washburn Today at 4 p.m.

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest will host Washburn at 4 p.m. today at Bearcat Pitch. The Bearcats currently hold a one-point lead for fourth place over the Lady Blues in the MIAA standings, but haven't beat Washburn since 2003.

Northwest (7-3-1, 3-3-1 MIAA) is coming off a tough overtime loss against University of Nebraska-Omaha. Senior Andrea Tritz (Sioux City, Iowa) missed the game due to a leg injury, but is expected to play today. Tritz is the Bearcat's leading scorer with four goals this season.

Washburn (6-4, 3-3 MIAA) is trying to build on its four-game win streak, the longest current streak in the MIAA. Freshman Leah Talley (Wichita, Kan.) is Washburn's leading scorer with five goals. Talley and Tritz are tied for fourth in the MIAA with three game-winning goals.

The Bearcats have scored one goal in their last three games after averaging better than 1.5 goals through the team's first seven contests. The team has allowed just nine goals this season, but four have come in Northwest's last three games. (0-2-1).
