Northwest, Central Missouri Held Scoreless
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Central Missouri took 25 shots and had 13 corner kicks, but couldn't get anything past Kira Lazenby and the Bearcats Thursday at Bearcat Pitch. Northwest Missouri State and the Jennies dueled to a 0-0 tie.
Lazenby saved 12 shots, one shy of her career high, to extend her career shutout record to 13. Northwest (7-2-1, 3-2-1 MIAA) has allowed seven goals in 10 games this season.
Central Missouri (4-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAA) out shot Northwest 11-1 in the first half and 5-1 in the two overtime periods. Melanie Hall, the Jennies top scorer, took seven shots and put three on goal. Kelsie Hanson took five shots, two of which were on goal.
Northwest played without four starters for much of the game including forwards Andrea Tritz, the Bearcats' leading scorer who missed the entire game, and Kelsey Sanders who played 49 minutes while battling an illness.
The Bearcats next compete against Nebraska-Omaha at 1 p.m. Saturday in Omaha.
